Football Fan Stabbed Near Candlestick Park

An Elk Grove man who was stabbed near Candlestick Park Sunday afternoon after an argument with two suspects is expected to survive, San Francisco police said today.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, was standing on Harney Way approximately 500 yards west of Jamestown Road around 1:30 p.m. with a group of five friends when the two suspects approached, according to Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

The suspects initiated a verbal altercation, then one of them stabbed the victim in the torso, causing life threatening injuries, Andraychak said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The victim and the suspects were reportedly all football fans in the area for today's San Francisco 49ers game, Andraychak said.

The suspects were arrested a few minutes later at Blanken Avenue and Executive Park Boulevard, but their identities have not yet been released. Andraychak described them as a 22-year-old male from Daly City and a 30-year-old male from San Francisco.
