Someone shot and injured a motorcyclist in South San Jose early Sunday morning, according to police.

Just before 2:55 a.m., a man was shot while riding his motorcycle in the area of Union Avenue and

Ronda Drive, near St. Edward's Episcopal Church, according to Officer Albert Morales.

Morales said the shooter, who police have not identified, may have fired at the motorcyclist from inside a nearby car.

"It almost appears that it might have been random," Morales said, before noting that the incident does not appear to be gang-related but police are still investigating.

After the shooting, the man was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not yet made any arrests in the case, Morales said.
