San Rafael Man Bites Dogs; Pet Chihuahuas Abused: Report

21-year old admits to biting, squeezing his dogs.

A San Rafael man faces up to a month in jail for two counts of animal cruelty after admitting to biting his pet Chihuahuas, according to reports.

Alex Dillon Maertz, 21, admitted to the attack and dropping his dogs on pavement June 18, the Marin Independent Journal reported.

Maertz was out walking his two dogs, eight-pound Isabella and four-pound Lily when he suddenly began squeezing one of his dogs while "screaming at her and apparently biting her," the newspaper reported.

What could have set him off? Witnesses say that the dog attempted to bite back before "dropping the other dog on the pavement," the newspaper reported.

Maertz remains in jail awaiting sentencing. The animals are at the Humane Society.
