Are You Happy? Happiness Researcher to Present at Los Gatos High Ted Talk

"Am I waking up with a smile on my face before I even open my eyes?"

That's the question researcher Maritza Alarcon will ask audience members during her presentation on the "Happiest Life" at the TedxLosGatosHigh School Conference Saturday.

Alarcon is the creator of iamhappiest.com and has been researching who she calls "happy humans" for more than a decade. She is one of 10 speakers scheduled to speak at the Tedx talk. Other speakers include the captain of the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department and an advanced placement physics teacher at Los Gatos High School.

Alarcon, who is a member of the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative Co-working space, believes everyone's life should be such an adventure that they are already happy before they wake up.

Alarcon says there are three common threads of happy people: always ready to express happiness; surrounded by music, and have maintained joy even through tough times.

The TedxLosGatosHigh School Conference is Jan. 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
