Martinez Boy, 10, Mauled by Pit Bull in Antioch

A 10-year-old boy is recovering and faces several surgeries after he was attacked by a pit bull Sunday while visiting family friends in Antioch.

Hunter Kilbourn, a Martinez resident, was knocked down by the dog when it entered the house. The dog mauled the boy's face and arms, according to his mother, Melody Ralls.

"On the right side of his face from his forehead to his eye, across to his ear was basically removed," Ralls said. "It was ripped off."

Doctors have reattached Hunter's ear at the University of California, Davis trauma center.

Another surgery is schedule for Tuesday to repair injuries to the right side of Hunter's face.

Ralls said she will do anything she can to make sure the dog is put down.

The dog is in quarantine for at least a week, officials said.
