Massive Oak Tree Falls on San Jose House, Ford Explorer

During storms, it's pretty common for winds to gust and trees to fall.

Except when it's on top of your house.

One of the more dramatic tree falling stories happened in San Jose near Boxwood Drive and Monroe Street off Interstate Highway 880.

A massive oak tree measuring about 57 inches in diameter unhinged at its roots on Thursday morning during the biggest Bay Area storm in half a decade, and crashed into a one-story home and the family car.

No one was injured when the tree fell, and the people who lived inside did not feel like talking. Neighbors said they saw the blowing leaves from the gutters late Wednesday night.

Despite his efforts, the sight of the fallen tree was shocking, as its trunk and branches severely damaged a burgundy Ford Explorer parked in the driveway, and the roof of the home.

Crews spent the morning cutting down the fallen oak, trying to remove it from the property.
