The Campbell police department said they have arrested a man suspected of robbing six South Bay banks in the past two months.

The arrest came less than 24 hours after a police media blitz asking the public for help.

Police released the photograph seen below of the suspect taken during the most recent bank robbery which happened in Sunnyvale. After the photos were seen on line and on TV, Campbell investigators said they received an outpouring of support from the public.

The tips helped them identify the suspect as Tony Piovesan. He was arrested in Campbell. Investigators said they obtained evidence to connect Piovesan to all six of the bank robberies.

Campbell police worked in conjunction with police in Los Gatos, San Jose and Sunnyvale.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or any of the bank robberies is still asked to contact the Campbell Police Department Investigations Unit at 408-871-5190.
