A 29-year old University of California, Berkeley graduate and former Bay Area resident died Thursday after he was buried in an avalanche.
Mike Kazanjy was skiing on Pucker Face, a "challenging and popular" slope outside of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort's main area when a slide buried him at around 12:50 p.m. Thursday, according to local reports.
He was dug out by 1:30 p.m. and declared dead.
He worked for Autodesk in San Rafael as a financial analyst before moving to Wyoming, according to his LinkedIn account.
It wasn't immediately clear how the avalanche began, but the area was declared to be at risk of slides prior to the fatal avalanche, according to reports.
