Mildred Baena Speaks With Hello! Magazine

The interview marks the first time Schwarzenegger's former housekeeper has spoken publicly about the scandal

The former housekeeper at the center of a scandal involving Arnold Schwarzenegger told Hello! magazine that when she told her son that the former governor was his father, he said, "Cool."

The interview marks the first time Mildred Baena has spoken publicly about the scandal since it was reported that she and the former governor had a child together. The article was scheduled to be on newstands Tuesday, but excerpts were published on the U.K. magazine's website.

In the interview, Baena talked about the now-13-year-old boy's resemblance to Schwarzenegger and said she told him about one year ago that Schwarzenegger was his father. She told the magazine that the boy wants to build a relationship with Schwarzenegger.

She also told the magazine that she suspected Maria Shriver, Schwarzenegger's wife of 25 years, figured out what happened.

"She would say things like, 'I'm here if you need to talk,'" Baena said. "I sensed something was up. I have so much love and respect for Maria. Finally, she asked point blank.''

Last month, Schwarzenegger acknowledged fathering a child with a former household employee.

The actor turned politician fathered the child before he turned to politics, but kept it a secret until recently from Shriver, according to the Los Angeles Times. Shriver moved out of their Brentwood mansion after Schwarzenegger revealed paternity of the child some time after his final term as governor ended.

“He’s a good man and I know he’s suffering, too," Baena told Hello!. "He loves Maria. I hope with time they work things out."
