Missing Child's Body Found in Yosemite

Two brothers were swept away in the Merced River near the Vernal Falls footbridge last week. .

Sad news from Yosemite National Park Thursday. Park rangers found the body of six year old Jacob Adams. Jacob had not been seen since being swept into the Merced River last week.

Jacob and his 10-year-old brother Andy were swept into the river last Wednesday near the Vernal Fall Footbridge.  The two had gone down to the water's edge with their mother and somehow slipped in to the rapids.

Park visitors pulled the older boy from the water about 150 yards downstream, but efforts to resuscitate him failed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His younger brother remained missing until today. Jacob was found just 50 yards from where he went into the river. "Fluctuating water levels in the Merced River, changing weather conditions, and treacherous terrain contributed to a difficult and challenging search.  However, with receding water levels in the Merced River and dry weather over the last few days, Yosemite Park Rangers have been able to access areas within the river corridor that were previously difficult to search," park officials said in a statement.

The boys and their mother were in the area for a church retreat. The Calvary Chapel East Anaheim church group was staying at a camp about an hour outside Yosemite.

Below is raw video of a ranger explaining where and how the boys went in the water.
