Missing East Bay Man, 81, Found in New York City

Jude Hunter went missing on January 10. The 81-year old has since gone far -- 3,000 miles, to be exact.

Hunter, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was last seen in California on Jan. 10 when he attended an appointment in East Oakland, according to the Fremont Argus. He was scheduled to return to his residential care home in Newark, but missed his ride home, the newspaper reported.

Authorities reported him missing, and no word was heard from him until Tuesday, when employees at a Manhattan hospital phoned Newark police to report that they had Hunter with them, "safe and sound and with no injuries," according to police.

Police are now trying to piece together why Hunter traveled to the East Coast. He is still in New York, according to the latest available information.
