The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police released new details on that city's first homicide case since 1972 late Saturday.
Police identified the victim as Raveesh Kumar Kumra, 66, of Monte Sereno. They would not release any information about the cause or manner of his death, citing the integrity of their investigation.
They also released a sketch (below) of one of the suspects involved in the homicide. They describe the man as white, approximately 23-24 year old, six feet tall and skinny. He had black hair, dark eyes and a light complexion, according to police.
Police said he was not the only person inside the home, but the description of the others involved was not known.
Kumra was found dead inside his 7,000 square foot mansion early Friday morning after his wife called 911 to say that someone had broken into their home and ransacked it.
The crime happened in a typically quiet and affluent part of southern Silicon Valley in the hills of Los Gatos.
Kumra's wife was beaten during the home invasion. She was hospitalized but was expected to recover.
Kumra's niece told NBC Bay Area that her uncle was a multimillionaire and former owner of the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. The Mercury News said Kumra also owned Western Cellular Management, which has the same Withey Road address where the homicide happened.
When police arrived about 1:40 a.m. Friday, police said they found a man dead inside the home and the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after getting beaten by the intruders.
One neighbor, Steve Montara, told NBC Bay Area that he has lived in the area for a long time and the family involved is the only one he doesn't know.
Police would not say whether the crime was random or if the couple was targeted. That has neighbors worried.
The victim bought the Mountain Winery for $6 million in 1995. He reportedly had a rocky relationship with winery workers, neighbors and local police during his tenure.
