Workers on the Yahoo campuses across the South Bay were likely uneasy once again Monday morning as word began to spread of yet another massive layoff.
AllThingsD reported that CEO Scott Thompson is working on a restructuring plan that will cost thousands of people their jobs, and soon. Reporter Kara Swisher said the ax could fall by the end of the month.
Swisher cited several sources that said the biggest impact would be to Yahoo's products department, but public relations, marketing and research would be impacted as well.
“Some parts will be cut away, leaving resources to go to better efforts,” one source told Swisher. “But this has to be a true change to get this company back on track.”
Yahoo currently has about 14,000 employees, according to its latest earnings report.
