It is a record year for mosquito fogging in Santa Clara County with additional fogging planned for this week, as more dead birds and mosquitoes are found infected with the West Nile virus.

Officials said they will target hot zones in North San Jose and Milpitas from 11 p.m. Wednesday night through 4 a.m. Thursday morning.

This week's fogging will bring the county total to 10 foggings. The old record was seven.

Mosquito season is expected to stretch into October if the weather stays warm.
