More Trout Trouble For Stanford University; Lawsuit Filed Over Fish

Environmental groups have sued the National Marine Fisheries Service, alleging a pair of water systems run by Stanford University are "illegally endangering trout," the Palo Alto Daily News reported.

Our Children's Earth and the Ecological Rights Foundation allege in a federal suit that the San Francisquito Creek pump station and the Los Trancos diversion facility both cause problems for steelhead trout.

If successful, the lawsuit would shut down the pump station and the diversion facility, the newspaper reported.

Flows in the creek have been much-reduced since the federal government approved the pump station and creek diversion, the lawsuit alleges.
