Motorcyclist Charged With DUI After Fatal Pedestrian Accident in San Francisco

A motorcyclist who crashed into two pedestrians in San Francisco, killing one, has been charged with a felony DUI, police said.

According to San Francisco police Officer Grace Gatpandan, Sean McGinnis on Monday was booked for felony DUI alcohol causing bodily injury, felony DUI drugs causing bodily injury and felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

McGinnis, 26, struck two people at roughly 9:10 p.m. July 1 at the intersection of Third and Market streets. Police said all three were taken to the hospital.

Gregory Ihm, 39, of San Francisco, died at 3:05 p.m. July 2, Gatpandan said. The second pedestrian lost teeth and suffered facial lacerations and pain to the hip and leg areas, she added.

The San Francisco Sheriff's Department said that McGinnis is in custody with bail set at $500,000.
