Mount Diablo Fire 100 Percent Contained

Cooler temperatures and higher humidity helped firefighters in the East Bay.

The Mount Diablo fire is now 100 percent contained.

Cooler temperatures and higher humidity have helped firefighters in the East Bay.  As of Saturday morning, they said the so-called Morgan Fire was no longer actively burning.

Firefighters spent the day putting out hot spots. Nearly five square miles have burned since the fire broke out last Sunday.

The flames forced the evacuation of 100 homes and prompted air quality warnings in three counties.

Investigators said it was started by people who were target-shooting in the area.
