The Milk Pail Market in the heart of the Silicon Valley is shutting down after 45 years.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the owner of the beloved grocery store in Mountain View announced the property had been sold to a developer. The store is expected to close in the summer.
"This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional decision for me. I understand that this news will be very disappointing for many," the owner, Steve, wrote in his Facebook announcement. "To all of our many fans, enthusiastic supporters, and cheese lovers, we are grateful that you have been on this journey with us."
The post has garnered hundreds of comments and shares on Facebook, with many locals saying they are devastated by the news.
