Mudslide Shuts Down 84 in Fremont

Flooding and mudslides

Portions of Fremont felt the brunt of Friday's storms: Portions of the city were hit with flooding and mudslides.

The underpass at Mission and Niles boulevards were flooded, and one car had to be towed out of the water. Rick Allen, who was trying to get by the mess, told NBC Bay Area, "It's been crazy. I'm always amazed at how a local commute can be half an hour."

About 6:30 a.m., a mudslide also shut down state Highway 84 just east of Fremont  Friday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
