Muni Vehicle Crashes Into Building

A San Francisco Municipal Railway training bus crashed into a building in Japantown Tuesday afternoon, a Muni spokesman said.

The training coach struck the building and a light pole on Laguna Street, between Post and Sutter streets, shortly before 1:30 p.m., spokesman Judson True said.

Pictures from the scene show it also knocked down a tree on its way to the building.

No passengers were on board the training coach and nobody was hurt, he said.

The crash has caused minor delays to the 3-Jackson Muni bus line.

Portions of the bus route will be served by motor-operated buses rather than electric trolley buses powered by overhead lines, True said.

It was the second incident of the day for MUNI.

San Francisco Municipal Railway's F-Market streetcar service was disrupted for about an hour by a minor accident near Market Street and  Grant Avenue.

Muni spokesman Judson True said a mirror on an inbound 71 Haight-Noriega bus apparently struck an outbound F-Market Streetcar at about  11:20 a.m.

Streetcar service was disrupted as Muni and San Francisco police investigated the accident. True said shortly before 12:30 p.m. that the  accident scene was cleared and that service had been restored.

The bus driver received medical attention but was not transported to the hospital. One bus passenger may also have injured but that person  refused medical treatment, True said.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
