NASA is so sure it's not happening it has dedicated a page to it on its website.
A flood of questions about the possibility prompted the agency to start a page called "Ask an Astrobiologist, Nibiru and Doomsday 2012: Questions and Answers."
Scientist David Morrison said: "We do have knowledge to say there is no incoming planet, no polar flip, nothing like this is happening."
He also said the Mayan calendar does not end four days before Christmas.
"It's cyclic and it just flips over so that's no reason to be concerned," said Morrison, who added the number of emails seems to grow as the so called doomsday date approaches.
He is hoping his science based answers will convince believers to let it go and prepare to welcome in 2013. A new year he hopes will mean the end to questions about the end of the world.
