NB I-280 in San Francisco Reopens Ahead of Schedule After Seismic Retrofitting

Northbound Interstate Highway 280 in San Francisco reopened late Monday ahead of schedule.

The freeway, which Caltrans reopened at 9:40 p.m., was closed over the Labor Day weekend as replacement hinges were installed along the highway to strengthen the overpass in the event of more seismic activity.

The stretch of northbound I-280, from the U.S. Highway 101/I-280 interchange to San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood closed at 2 p.m. on Thursday and was scheduled to remain closed until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
