NFL Star Busted for DUI in Oakland

NFL player Marshawn Lynch, an Oakland native, was arrested for DUI.

NFL running back Marshawn Lynch, an Oakland native and former Cal star, was arrested in Oakland on Saturday for allegedly driving under the influence, according to reports.

Lynch, 26, was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol in East Oakland on Saturday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, where he was cited for two misdemeanors, the newspaper reported.

He was released on recognizance. No court dates were announced by the newspaper. It was not known if he was on the highway or on residential streets.

Lynch has played in the NFL for several seasons, most recently for the Seattle Seahawks. He was drafted out of Cal by the Buffalo Bills.

In 2007, a former girlfriend told prosecutors that Lynch tried to kill her and forced her to "touch him sexually," the newspaper reported. No charges were filed. The pair had attended Oakland Tech High together, the newspaper reported.
