The Mineta San Jose International Airport announced the first newcomer to its newly renovated facility in five years.

Volaris Airlines will start a daily direct flights to Guadalajara at the end of April.

Volaris will have a flight that arrives from Guadalajara at 11:25 a.m. every day.  The crew will immediately reload the plane for a return flight that has a 12:35 p.m. departure time.

Volaris CEO Enrigue Beltranena said San Jose is a big attraction for Mexican traveling on both business or pleasure.

"The Hispanic market makes up about 30 percent of the total population in San Jose, and we're certain that we'll soon gain momentum with our clients as we did when we launched U.S. service last year," Beltranena said.

One of the people most pleased by the news is San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed.

"Their arrival reflects the superior convenience, comfort, and efficiency that our beautiful new airport now offers to passengers and airlines alike. We look forward to the long-term success and growth of Volaris in San Jose," Reed said.

Volaris is booking tickets starting now.
