New Home Found for ZinZanni, Others Displaced by America's Cup

San Francisco will not host the America's Cup boat race in 2013 without cost: noted dinner theater extravaganza Teatro ZinZanni and 80 other Port of San Francisco tenants -- tech firms, eateries, and transportation firms, among others -- were told to pull up stakes and make way for the yachting.

But these small businesses were not told to leave San Francico forever, as Mayor Ed Lee was proud to announce this week. New homes for ZinZanni and other tenants have been secured, with the circus theater troupe taking over a parking lot at the foot of Broadway, according to the San Francisco Appeal online newspaper.

Bauer's Intelligent Transportation has been moved to Pier 50, near AT&T Park. About 50 people work there. Another 100 work at ZinZanni.

The city worked with ZinZanni for "11 months" to find the show a new home, according to the newspaper.

"We need to make sure that we're going to leave a good legacy for the city," Lee said of the efforts to preserve the valued but-displaced-organizations. Now if only the 49ers can move in, too...
