New Phoenix Light Rail Makes Muni Look Bad

Phoenix just opened its new light rail line back in December, and ridership's been nearly twice what they were expecting.

Looks like they really did it right: Streetsblog's video shows nicer shelters than anything we have, ground-floor boarding, a working smartcard system (in contrast to Muni's ongoing floundering with Translink), easy payment (in contrast to Muni's tourist-flummoxing signs and machines), and bike racks on the trains! Yes! BIKE RACKS INSIDE TRAINS.

We now wish our daily commute to work could detour through Arizona.
