Newsom Finally Polls Ahead of Brown, on Twitter

San Francisco mayor hits one million followers on social networking site

Mayor Gavin Newsom is finally polling ahead of California Attorney General Jerry Brown. The problem for the San Francisco mayor is the poll is counting who has more Twitter followers and not votes for California governor.

Just a week after pollster David Binder released a study showing Brown leading Newsom in a run for governor even among certain San Franciscans, 51 percent to 34 percent, the San Francisco Examiner reports Newsom beat the former governor to one million Twitter followers.

The milestone comes just days after the curent governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, hit one million followers on his twitterfeed. Newsom has made Facebook and Twitter a major part of his run for governor. All three men are miles ahead of Meg Whitman.

Newsom has added about 15,000 followers in the past two days, according to the Examiner. Brown has had similiar traffic but he has yet to reach the rank of Ashton Kutcher or CNN.
