Michael Savage's Son Donates to Newsom

Former state assembly candidate Russ Weiner opposed bilingual education, same-sex marriage

Russ Weiner, who once co-founded an organization with his father Michael "Savage" Weiner that supported "traditional marriage," has donated $25,000 to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's gubernatorial campaign.

The Paul Revere Society was a short-lived political group that also advocated for an end to bilingual education in schools as well as a crackdown on illegal immigration.

Based on that platform, Weiner ran for California's state assembly in the sixth district which represents North Bay counties.

He even waved his Paul Revere Society membership card during a campaign debate to drive home the point.

Weiner went on to create the Rockstar Energy Drink, which presumably made him enough money to be so generous in his campaign donation.

Should certainly make for an awkward discussion around the Weiner's dinner table this Thanksgiving.

Other notable Newsom donors found by the San Francisco Weekly include Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang ($25,900), film producer Harvey Weinstein ($5,000) and oil fortune heiress Aileen Getty ($10,000).

Jackson West won't be donating money to any of the candidates for governor.
