No Arrests in 49er Aldon Smith Stabbing

Smith's exact medical condition wasn't clear on Monday.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office on Monday said no arrests have been made in the stabbing of San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith at a chaotic party in the eastern San Jose foothills.

Sgt. Jose Cardoza did not identify Smith by name, as it is standard law enforcement policy not to identify victims of crimes. In addition to Smith, there were two gunshot victims. All were expected to survive. It is also unclear if anyone else either injured, or at the party, was a 49er.

But General Manager Trent Baalke said in a Sunday statement that the team was aware Smith "incurred minor injuries during an incident last night."

Deputies responded to a 911 call Sunday at 2:14 a.m. to a home in the 4000 block of Higuera Highland Lane in the unincorporated East San Jose foothills. The caller reported hearing gunshots, but Cardoza said the party goers didn't provide any information that led them to any suspects. Cardoza estimated at least 100 people had attended the party. He also said detectives are trying to figure out a motive for the violence.

Smith's exact medical condition wasn't clear on Monday. But in Sunday's statement, Baalke said the team was "thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably."
