Nudity Ban To Spark More Nudity in SF

A ban on public nudity approved last week is leading to... more public nudity, according to reports.

 

The Board of Supervisors approved a new ban on public nudity by a 6-5 vote last week, according to the San Francisco Examiner. But the law isn't in place for a few more months, which could mean "naked rage" over the holidays, the newspaper reported.

 

The flesh-fueled fury begins Wednesday, when nudists plan to rally at the Democratic County Central Committee, on Friday on the steps at City Hall, and again on Dec. 4, when the Board is required to cast a "perfunctory second vote" on the ban.

 

The ban has also been challenged in federal court. A judge could decide in January if the ban should be delayed while the lawsuit is decided, the newspaper reported.

 

The ban began after Castro residents complained about a small group of dedicated nudists who liked to sit naked in a public plaza on Market Street. Supervisor Scott Wiener carried the legislation, saying the nudists went too far -- and that the protests, such as nudists disrobing in the Board of Supervisors' chamber, also went too far.
