This morning they are putting the finishing touches on a Thanksgiving feast for 500 people.

Last night Fred Morris and his family cut up 16 turkeys and worked on cooking all the trimmings in the family home in east Oakland.

Some of the turkeys were donated and some paid for by the family.

Morris came up with the idea of helping feed the community five years ago and his idea grew with the need.

The family and volunteers will start serving at 11 a.m. at the Rainbow Center on Seminary.
