A missing Sugar Bowl skier was found dead early Tuesday, the Placer County Sheriff's Department said.
Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Ausnow said the body of Jon Hoffman, 58, of Oakland, was found at about 9 a.m. on the Strawberry Fields ski run.
Ausnow said Hoffman was an expert skier. He said there was no obvious sign of trauma, adding that a medical problem may have contributed to the death.
Ausnow said an exact cause of death will not be known until an autopsy is performed.
Hoffman was reported missing after he failed to return home Monday night.
