Oakland Mayor Quan Warned By Federal Judge

A federal judge has informed Oakland Mayor Jean Quan she must testify.

Mayor Jean Quan must be deposed. Otherwise she could be in trouble.

The Oakland mayor avoided testifying in a federal court case that could put the Oakland Police Department under federal control, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. And she will be "in serious trouble" if she skips another scheduled deposition, as she did on Aug. 30, according to reports.

Attorneys Jim Chanin and John Burris want to put the police department under federal receivership for its failure to meet deadlines for reform, according to reports.

Quan was supposed to be deposed in the case all day on Aug. 30 but canceled, saying her job needed her elsewhere, the newspaper reported.

A federal judge warned Quan on Friday not to skip any more depositions.
