A parolee has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, carjacking and other charges for allegedly engaging in a one-man crime spree during a 74-minute period in East Oakland a month ago, police said.
Jamar Cleveland, 26, of Oakland, who faces a total of 25 felony counts, was arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court on Tuesday and returned to court today to be assigned an attorney.
He's being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail.
Oakland police said Cleveland is suspected of committing two shootings, three carjackings and at least two kidnappings between 10:43 a.m. and 11:57 a.m. on June 4.
Cleveland had been at large since the series of incidents but he was arrested in the 2300 block of the Embarcadero in Oakland at about 1:42 a.m. on Saturday, police said.
Among the other charges against Cleveland are false imprisonment, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, second degree commercial burglary, carrying a concealed weapon and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
Cleveland previously was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence in connection for a May 5, 2009, incident in which he was driving a Chevrolet Camaro while being chased by Berkeley police and crashed into a tree, killing a passenger in his car.
