Oakland Police Grapple With Four Homicides

The most recent killings occurred Tuesday about 6:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of 72nd Avenue.

Oakland police are scrambling to untangle the details of four homicides in less than 24 hours.

The most recent killings occurred Tuesday about 6:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of 72nd Avenue between International Boulevard and Orral Street. The men were found in a parked van on the street, and their identities were not immediately released.

That double homicide follows two separate shooting deaths on Monday; both occurred outside different liquor stores.  One occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 9000 block of MacArthur Boulevard - an 18-year-old was hot outside Harry Drive Liquors.

The other shooting happened about 10:20 p.m. The Oakland Tribune reports that Herron Adams Jr., 26, of Oakland was shot outside Two Star Liquors on MacArthur Boulevard in the Dimond District.

Veronica Lee, who lives near the 72nd Avenue killings was saddened that such horror has now descended on her neighborhood.

"Nobody's exempt in Oakland," she said.
