Oakland Rapper Too $hort Arrested in LA

East Oakland-based rapper "Too $hort" was arrested in Hollywood  early this morning, a Los Angeles police officer said.

The rapper, whose real name is Todd Anthony Shaw, 46, was arrested  at 3:05 a.m. at North Las Palmas Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard on suspicion  of driving under the influence and possession of narcotics, Los Angeles  police Officer Bruce Borihanh said.

He was booked into the Los Angeles Police Department's  Metropolitan Detention Center just before 6 a.m. on $10,000 bail, according  to jail records.

The rapper is known for his West Coast hip-hop, including the 2006  hit "Blow the Whistle" and his 1990 single "The Ghetto."
