Obamacare Comes To Silicon Valley

eHealth gets the White House contract

A high-five from both the White House, and Wall Street.

Not a bad day for eHealth of Mountain View, a company that's been helping people find health care plans online for 15 years. On Wednesday morning, eHealth announced that Washington picked it to help bring people into the healthcare policy world via "Obamacare," where (starting October first), millions of people will need health insurance.

Good news for those who need healthcare, as eHealth is an easy (OK, I realize we're talking insurance here...) way to shop online. Brian Mast of eHealth calls his company "The Travelocity of Health Insurance." He has a point. Choices, prices, check it out: It's kind of like shopping for a new laptop.

Wall Street also impressed, boosting shares of eHealth (EHTH) by nearly 30 percent on the Nasdaq.
