Obama Getaway: First Family Plans to Visit Yosemite National Park

Families planning on visiting Yosemite National Park this Father's Day weekend may catch a glimpse of the first family on the trails.

In accordance with his accomplishment as the president to conserve the most land and water in history, President Obama organized a family trip to see Carlsbad Caverns and Yosemite next week.

The trip is also a way for the family to take some much-needed alone time, where Obama and the girls will be able to experience the gushing waterfalls and blooming nature that reaches its peak during the summer.

On a Facebook post made by The White House, Obama said, “I want to make sure that the whole world is able to pass on to future generations the God-given beauty of this planet."

Yosemite's Waterfalls Roaring

The White House highlighted Obama's previous park visits, including —Yellowstone in 2009 and the Kenjai Fjords and the Everglades in 2015. This will be his first visit to Yosemite.

The National Park is welcoming Obama and his family with open arms, and The National Parks Conservation Association wished the president a great trip. "One of the best ways to find your voice for our national parks is to get out there and visit them — fall in love with them — and when they need you — to speak up for them so they are protected for present and future generations," they posted in a comment.

Earlier this year, Obama approved the conservation of almost 1.8m acres of California Desert, and protected the Mojave Trails, Sand to Snow and Castle Mountains as national monuments. This action nearly doubled the amount of public land he has protected.

The first family's visit will be made just months before the National Park's Service 100th anniversary, on Aug. 25.

Yosemite National Park was not immediately available to respond.
