Palo Alto May Build Subsidized Housing for Families Who Make $250K

Despite having one of the highest median salaries in America, Palo Alto may start subsidizing housing for families who make between $150,000-250,000 per year.

SFGate noted that Palo Alto households have been found to have one of the highest median salaries in the country at $167,408 according to a 2014 report, but the city is considering a proposal to build and contribute to the rental cost of new housing.

The story has predictably become a hot topic of discussion on Reddit.

"As a teacher, I would love to be making $150,000-250,000 per year," wrote one user. "Can I have Bay Area subsidized housing for people making $50-150K/year?"

"$250K?!? That's only 1 tech income," retorted another. "Poor b******* have nothing left after their Whole Foods groceries."
