Parents in San Francisco are taking matters into their own hands and making it their mission to save school funding.

Gov. Jerry Brown says the new budget hinges on voters passing an extension of taxes set to expire on July 1st.

Brown is four votes short of the two-thirds vote needed in the legislature to put the measure on the June ballot. So parents are trying to pressure lawmakers to get the initiative to voters.

EducateOurState.org has started a letter writing campaign. A link on the website helps parents send an e-mail to their local lawmaker. The group hopes to have 10,000 letters sent by the end of today.
