Family of San Francisco Tech Worker Missing Since Halloween Heartbroken Over Unusual Disappearance

The parents of a missing San Francisco software engineer are looking for any signs of their son, a tech developer who showed no signs of depression and who has been missing since Halloween.

His mother, father, sister and brothers are all desperate to find 26-year-old Dan Ha, and they joined in a public search party for him on Sunday, driving to San Francisco all the way from British Columbia.

"I miss him so much," Dan's mother Ruth Ha said. "Please help us to find Daniel."

The tech worker works at Metromile as an i0S developer near where he lives in SoMa. Workers said he went home with a migraine Thursday and did not come in Friday. Ha's family said headaches are not a serious issue for him, but being gone so long does not add up.

"It’s a really deep shock to us because Daniel is not only smart, but he's very disciplined," said Dan's father, Kenneth Ha, a reverend at a church in B.C.. "He always tells us if we want to go somewhere to do something."

"We checked his phone usage and saw that Friday night was the last time, anything on his phone," Ha's brother, Mark Ha, said. "That’s really unusual. He is pretty wired in."

Friends distributed and posted fliers again Sunday around the Stanford graduate's neighborhood. Ha graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in computer science. He was co-president of his senior class at Stanford, according to a website his family set up for him.

"There is really no reason for Dan to have disappeared all of a sudden," Dan's other brother Joseph said. "He has no history of mental illness or anything of that nature."

Ha's mother, like the rest of his family, said she is not giving up hope that she will find her son safe.

"We don’t know where is Daniel but I really hope...I know that God is watching Daniel," she said.

Joseph Ha said the entire ordeal is taking a toll on the family.

"It really breaks my heart to see my mother going through this, more than anything else," Joseph Ha said. "It's really hard on her. We're trying to stay strong and positive."

Ha is an Asian man with black hair and brown eyes standing about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 210 pounds, according to police. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call San Francisco police at (415) 553-1071. The family has set up a Facebook page  and a website, FindDanHa, for those trying to find him.
