Overtone's Tino Ponsonby Crashes SUV in Ocean

A call of "fore" at this Pebble Beach golf course would not have been enough to stay clear of what was headed their way.

The driver of a Cadillac Escalade who drove into the ocean at Pebble Beach Thursday morning has been identified as a well known beat box singer from the area.

KSBW reported the driver is 26-year-old Tino Ponsonby of the group Overtone. Overtone is managed by Dina Eastwood, wife of Clint Eastwood.

Ponsonby was featured in a recent reality series "Mrs. Eastwood and Company" which aired on the E network.

Ponsonby's SUV drove in the waters at the base of the Cypress Point Golf Course.

He was able to wade back to shore but did suffer injuries and needed to be hospitalized.

Witnesses said he was traveling at a high rate of speed when he careened off 17 Mile Drive, crashed on to the beach and then continued "zooming into the ocean."

The CHP arrested Ponsonby on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

"This is not the first time this happened in this area," CHP officer Robert Lehman said. "Those are sharp turns, so there is not a large margin for error."

Tow trucks were able to get the Escalade out of the water within an hour.  Although the picture below shows two men and a rope, it took more than "a couple of guys" to get the thing out of the water.
