Pedestrian Hit By Car in San Francisco Gets Jaywalking Citation

A pedestrian hit by a car in San Francisco's Cathedral Hill neighborhood was cited for jaywalking after being taken to the hospital on Sunday afternoon, police said Monday.

The pedestrian was struck by a car driving in the area of Geary Boulevard and Gough Street at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The pedestrian was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening and was later cited for crossing the street outside of a crosswalk, Shyy said.

The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with police, Shyy said.

Seven pedestrians have been killed so far this year in San Francisco.

Last year 21 pedestrians were killed in San Francisco, the highest number since 2007.
