Of the 15, the man is the 10th pedestrian or cyclist killed in the city this year, police said.

San Jose police spokesman Albert Morales said the man was walking at the intersection of White Road and Madeleine Drive about 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 43-year-old driver, who fully cooperated and is not under arrest.

The man's death follows on the heels of a fatal bicycle accident near Silver Creek High School in San Jose about 7:35 a.m. on Monday.

The teen was riding a "fixie," or a fixed-gear bike by Pure Fix, which are really fast and good for tricks. Some fixie bikes don't have brakes, and the cyclists pedal backwards to stop. Thisteen's bicycle had one brake.

The teen was taken to a hospital, where Morales said he died about 8:10 a.m. Morales added that the boy was not wearing a helmet.
