Person Dies at San Jose Hospital in Bullet-Ridden Car; City's 39th Homicide of Year

The person’s death marked the city’s 39th homicide of the year.

A person who had been shot and arrived at a San Jose hospital Wednesday night in a bullet-ridden car died a short time after he or she showed up seeking medical help, according to police and video taken at the scene.

San Jose Police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said officers were called out to Regional Medical Center on Jackson Avenue about 8:45 p.m. after hearing a person had been shot. There, they found a car, with the window shot out and a bullet pierced in the back near the trunk, at the hospital.

Police officers at the scene of the shooting – Dove Hill Park – were seen scouring the area for evidence, according to video taken at the park.

Garcia said he didn’t know why the person had been shot and no suspects were identified.
