It was a field of dreams for the Petaluma National Little League team at the A's game in Oakland Friday, especially after the team beat the Boston Red Sox 20-2.
Thirteen 12- and 13-year- old boys get the royal treatment: One-on-one time with players, face time on the big screen, autographed baseballs, luxury box seating and a chance to take the field with the team while a cheering crowd gets on its feet.
Petaluma native and Oakland Athletic Jonny Gomes made sure it all happened for the North Bay Little League who took took third place in the Little League World Series.
"I definitely wanted to do what I could for these guys they deserve it they are champs, "Gomes said. Coach Eric Smith says meeting the players is a dream come true for the boys.
Thirteen-year-old Logan Douglas says he was freaking out when he found out he would take the field. Standing next to the dugout with a permanent smile Douglas said, "It's just awesome to meet the A's pro baseball players pretty cool."
The celebration for the team continues Sunday with a parade in Petaluma.
