The Petaluma National team, which lost a thrilling game for the U.S. championship to a team from Tennessee on Saturday after an amazing 10-run comeback at the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania, is scheduled to land at San Francisco International Airport late Monday morning.
Ain't no party like a pizza party -- with San Francisco Giants' ace Matt Cain.
Cain, who tossed a perfect game in June, will host the members of the third-place Little League World Series squad from Petaluma on Sunday for a little pizza pie, according to reports.
Cain and advertiser/sponsor Patxi's Pizza will serve up the grub beginning at 10:45 a.m., with last call at 12:15 p.m.
A wee early for some, perhaps, but then again Cainer will be hungry after pitching against the Dodgers Saturday.
Win or lose, Cain will kick it with the kids after their pizza party, signing autographs and posing for photos. This is part of a pattern for Cain -- he phoned the team prior to their U.S. Championship game to wish them good luck.
Cain will have some extra time Sunday to spend with the kids thanks to ESPN. The sports network picked the final game of the Giants Dodgers series for its Sunday night game of the week.
The little leaguers have also been hosted to an A's game in Oakland. And they were the star attraction at a downtown parade in Petaluma.
