Well known skateboarder killed in crash on highway

A motorcyclist who died in a crash on a connector ramp from Interstate Highway 80 to U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco early Saturday has been identified by the medical examiner's office as 24-year-old Peter Starrs.

Starrs lost control of the motorcycle and crashed at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on the ramp connecting westbound Highway 80 to southbound Highway 101, according to the California Highway Patrol.

He was ejected from the bike, and was thrown off the highway onto surface streets below, CHP Officer Tony Tam said. Starrs was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead around 2 a.m. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Tam said.
