Phish Interrupts San Francisco Set to Honor Giants With “We Are The Champions”

What's a jam band do best besides improvise?

Even the jam bands are catching Giants fever.

Phish had just begun playing the third of its three nights of consecutive sold out shows at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco's Civic Center when word got out – via the crowd, who were staring at their phones while catching the concert – that the San Francisco Giants had just won the World Series.

That prompted some celebratory cheering from the crowd, and some acknowledgement from the band, who broke into the eternal celebratory anthem "We are the Champions," as Jambase noted.

Phish deftly segued from "Moma Dance," the tune they were playing, to bust out the legendary Queen tune, and then got right back into their show just as smartly, SFist noted.
