Emergency officials in San Mateo County reported a problem affecting the county's phone service Thursday morning.
The problem began sometime before 7 a.m. and appeared to be affecting calls to seven-digit numbers at the county government center, Office of Emergency Services district coordinator Jeff Norris said.
Callers can still get through to 911, Norris said.
"The 911 system countywide was not affected in any way, shape or form," he said.
Technicians were working to fix the problem, he said.
Phone service was back to normal by 10:30 a.m.
The cause of the problem has not yet been determined.
